Becks’ tattooist Horiyoshi III hits Connaught Village in London

Now you may not all agree with me but to heck with it,  I’m going to say it anyway… that without a doubt David Beckham is one of God’s finest examples of the male species! His style, those beautiful eyes and the tatts.

Yes, arguably Golden Balls tattoo’s have become his trademark and the talented chap behind some of Becks’ designs has decided to take his art to another level and break into the fashion world.

Horiyoshi The Third specialises in Japanese full-body tattoos and  has recently opened his first UK stand alone clothing store, Horyioshi III  in Connaught Village, London, adding another spicy name to the exclusive Hyde Park retail quarter.

But it’s not the artist-turned-designer’s first fashion haus, he has already set up one in Los Angeles and another in Tokyo. He’s collaborated with entrepreneur Steve Suk to transform his artistry into a line of luxury leisurewear, having released his first collection to the public in March 2009.

Since then he has sold to the most exclusive stores worldwide in Europe, America and Australia, and gained a high profile celebrity following from actress Tilda Swinton.

The interior design of the store is something to definitely notice. A mixture of japanese pseudo-chic with paper birds fixed to the tables and a montage of Horiyoshi’s work filling the walls.

His designs are a far away adaptation of his tattoo art, which are layered onto grungy base colours. However the items are made from luxurious fabrics and can be easily layered and accessorised – perfect for the winter months.

The scarves are a definite winner with Couch and you can have peace of mind with the notion that you’ll only be among a few sporting this designer wear – it’s certainly a hidden village secret!
