With January, arguably the hardest month of the year and the current economic difficulties looking set to last into 2012 and beyond, many people are finding it hard to afford or justify buying multitudes of new clothes, but still want ways to jazz up their wardrobe and feel like they aren’t just recycling the same old outfits.

So while you’re watching your bank accounts like hawks an at the same time desiring to keep up with the trends – wowing people with your new and fantastic ensembles, how do you find the balance?

The answer this year I think will be…ACCESSORIES! The often-understated detailing that can significantly add to an outfit and completely change the style of your clothes. – winner! By wearing the same pieces of clothing but changing what necklace or bangles you wear, you can completely alter the mood of the attire and keep your look fresh.

Accessories come in many veins, with the most obvious being necklaces and bangles. With so many shops offering a wide variety of ever-changing pieces, it is easy to find something you like at any price range. Chunky necklaces can snazz up any simple item of clothing, or alternatively a delicate necklace or long garnish can add the finishing touches to a well put-together outfit.

Bangles can be an easy way to add flair to an ensemble, and they can be layered excessively or kept simple, depending on your style.

A large cocktail ring can brighten up any outfit and there are many options out there. You have to find the right balance of amount and sizes of rings, so either wear one or two overstated ones, or a few smaller ones spattered across your hands, but overloading can look cheap so be careful!

But jewellery isn’t the only way to do the accessories trend – bags are a great alternative if you don’t like to weigh yourself down or ruin your chosen garb.

Again there is such a choice to suit every price range and personality: be it the clutch bag, over-sized bag, satchel, slouchy bag, or constructed item. There is so much choice out there in terms of brands, colours, styles, expense, adornments, that anyone can find a bag or two to fall in love with.

No matter what your accessory of choice, be it the faithful bag, the amazing necklace or the multitude of bangles, make it bold, make it fabulous and make it yours.  Just because the economic crisis is continuing, doesn’t mean your style has to suffer as well!
